Issue/Introduction

The following alert from NFA is being generated, while all SNMP configuration is done properly and IP 10.1.2.3 which is the IP address for the NFA harvester:

%SNMP-3-AUTHFAIL: Authentication failure for SNMP request from host 10.1.2.3

Or the following is being generated in the CAPC logs:

%AUTH-5-SNMPD_AUTH_FAILURE: nsa_log_community: unauthorized SNMP community from XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Environment

DX NetOps CAPM Release : 20.2 or later
Network Flow Analysis (NFA) 10.0 or later

Cause

SNMP profile incorrectly assigned to the device in CAPC resulting in incorrect SNMP authentication strings being used for the device.

Resolution

Change the SNMP profile to correctly reflect the SNMP authentication credentials of the device.
