Issue/Introduction

We are monitoring a CICS CTS 5.4 region with MAT r12.

Got a message “TN0494W CICS routine not found for profile: QCICADA1” when we’re formatting the sample data set, seeming to indicate that we have somehow lost the recognition that MATUNE monitoring a CICS region.

In this case the MATUNE load library defined to the MATUNE started task was missing the CTS 5.4 load modules. The client was NOT USING using the MAT 12.0  maintenance level that contained the MATUNE CTS 5.4 Load modules.

MAT 12.0 base release only supported to CTS 5.3.

CTS 5.4 and CTS 5.5 are supported at a higher fix-maintenance level. The Matune CICS load module are located in load library HLQ.CEESPLD

Resolution

The dump indicates that the TN0494W message was issued when MATUNE started task attempted to load the CTS 5.4 load module called TNECIC71.
MAT derived the name from the release of CICS that is being monitored.

This release is 7.1.0, which is the internal designation for CTS 5.4.0.

The load failed with an S806 abend, reason code 4, which indicates that the module is not present in the library. Normally, an S806 abend would result in message CSV003I being issued and the task being abnormally terminated.

However MATUNE started task intercepts the normal system action and issues the TN0494W message.
This allows the monitor to continue with basic processing even though the CICS processing module is not available.

The STEPLIB for the MATUNE started task server address space includes two datasets:

HLQ.CEESPLD

HLQ.CEY3LOAD

In this case the MATUNE load library define to the MATUNE started task HLQ.CEESPLD was missing the CTS 5.4 load modules.
The client was not using the MAT 12.0 maintenance level that contained the MAT CTS 5.4 Load modules.
