Issue/Introduction

SMP/E APPLY of a PTF gets errors: 

IEW2556W 4604 RECORD NUMBER  101 OF THE CURRENT OBJECT MODULE HAS AN INVALID OBJECT IDENTIFIER IN COLUMN 1.

IEW2555E 4602 END OF OBJECT MODULE FOUND BEFORE END RECORD.                   
IEW2307E 1032 CURRENT INPUT MODULE NOT INCLUDED BECAUSE OF INVALID DATA.      
IEW2230S 0414 MODULE HAS NO TEXT.                                             
IEW2648E 5111 ENTRY nnnnnnnn IS NOT A CSECT OR AN EXTERNAL NAME IN THE MODULE. 
IEW2677S 5130 A VALID ENTRY POINT COULD NOT BE DETERMINED.                    
IEW2638S 5384 AN EXECUTABLE VERSION OF MODULE nnnnnn EXISTS AND CANNOT BE REPLACED BY THE NON-EXECUTABLE MODULE JUST CREATED.

Cause

The IEW2556W error normally occurs when the PTF source used in the RECEIVE is corrupted. 

This can happen if the transfer to the mainframe was not done in binary mode or due to some other communications problem during the transfer.

Resolution

Perform the following steps:

  1. Run an SMP/E REJECT of the PTF. 
  2. Download the PTF again from https://casupport.broadcom.com/
  3. Transfer the PTF to the mainframe in BINARY mode and to a file with LRECL=80.
  4. Run an SMP/E RECEIVE of the PTF 
  5. Run the SMP/E APPLY
