Issue/Introduction

We would like to implement a scheduled database trimming procedure. The guide reports, we have to edit the file: $ARCOT_HOME/conf/dbtrim.properties but this file is missing. Is there some other component to install? Do we have to create the file from scratch?

Environment

Release : 9.0

Component : AuthMinder(Arcot WebFort) CA Strong Authentication

RiskMinder(Arcot RiskFort) CA Risk Authentication

Cause

dbtrim.properties file is not part of the 9.0 base release.

Resolution

dbtrim.properties file is part of 9.1 release not 9.0.

Database size plays a key role in CA Advanced Authentication products performance. As CA Advanced Authentication Administrator, we give you an option to tune the database tables to improve the product performance. Over time, the database grows as the number of users, transactions, and product usage increases, slowing performance. To prevent this slow-down, CA Advanced Authentication provides Database Trimming (DB Trimming) solution to move the data from the audit log tables periodically to the archive audit log tables. We also provide an option to delete the audit records from archived audit log tables. DB Trimming tool provides scheduling, configuration, and notification options for live and archive data management. DB Trimming provides the following benefits:

  • Reduce transactional load and improve the performance
  • Improve the correlation between data and reports
  • Improve the management of live data and archive data
  • Enhance archive and audit data management
  • Improve the performance of I/O intensive workloads
  • Optimize TPS in scaled environments.
