Staff Start and Finish dates are blank in Modern UX

Issue/Introduction

When navigating to the Staff tab in the Modern User Experience (UX) for many projects, the Start and Finish dates for most resources is displaying as blank. The values are displaying as expected when browsing in classic UX. Why is this?

Cause

This happens if the resource is added to the team and their allocation properties have not been edited.  If there is no Start and Finish Date on the Staff Member Properties page in Classic Clarity, that means the allocation properties have not been edited and the resource is using the Investment's Start and Finish Dates. A blank value for either of these fields assumes it's matching the information from investment.

To review the Staff Member properties data:

1. Go to the project in Classic Clarity
2. Navigate to the Team tab
3. Click on the Properties icon for the resource
4. View the Start Date and Finish Date under General (In this scenario, they will be blank)

You will see the dates in the Classic UI on the team page but they are being populated from the Investment Dates.

In the PRTEAM table, the fields will also be blank.

This behavior is working as designed.

Resolution

Populate the Start/Finish dates for the resources.

From Modern UX:

This can be set by entering the dates in the Modern UX Staff list view or Staff Details flyout

Another option is to add the Investment Start and Finish dates to the staff view.  This way if the resource dates are blank you can see what they are (defaulted from project)

From Classic:

1. Navigate to the Team tab of the project
2. Click on the Properties icon for the resource
3. Enter a Start Date and Finish Date under General
4. Click Save and Return

Note: You can also add the Investment Start / Investment Finish date columns to the Staff view. This is the date that resources with Blank Start / Finish dates will show in Classic Clarity.
