MIM Control File failure MIM0245E Abend S0D3 in control file management request processing

Issue/Introduction

Upgrading MIM from 12.1 to 12.5.   

While bringing up v12.5, received the error below with the SVC dump.  

User abend U0040 RC=0001 in module MIMDRINT at offset x'0000153E'

Cause

Nitoced that an OEM product TRXT from Tonesoft had started before MIM.

TRXT does not tolerate REUSASID=YES which is used by the MIMASC (MIM Address Space Creation) utility.

 

This caused the TRXT product to abend with a S0D3.  MIM detects this and issues the message 

MIM0245E Abend S0D3 in control file management request processing

The MIM control file is unable to be allocated and issues the MIM0003E message and terminates U0040 RC0001.

Resolution

From the S0D3 SVC dump, we can tell that ASID x'48' is PRIMARY (cross-memory mode). This address space is TRXT.

Using MIMASCRE to start MIM automatically starts MIM with REUSASID=YES. We believe the TRXT product doesn't tolerate this. We saw in the dump that MIM was started at: 2019279 09:13:14.39; I also noticed that TRXT was started just prior to MIM at: 2019279 09:10:53.06.

Start MIM prior to TRXT to circumvent the problem.
