Rally - Excel Add-in: Manually Delete Queries

Issue/Introduction

Sometimes, when queries become corrupted, it is necessary to manually delete the query using the preference viewer

Environment

Release : SAAS

Component : EXCEL ADD-IN

Resolution

In order to delete queries in Excel, it will be necessary to access the Preference Viewer.  The preference Viewer is built into Rally, however not all users will have this enabled.  Support is able to switch this on for users.  In order to access the Preference Viewer and delete the Excel Add-in query, perform the following steps:

1. Close Excel.
2. Click the "down caret" next to your avatar icon in the upper right corner of the application.
3. Click My Settings.
4. Click Preference Viewer.
5. The Name column contains the preference string that is found in a corresponding knowledge article or provided by support.
6. Use the navigation controls on the bottom right to cycle through the pages until you locate your preference string.
7. You may set the number of items per page using the control on the lower left of the screen.
8. The name of the preference will start with "Excel-" followed by the name of the query that saved in Excel.
9. Click the ⓧ icon on the right side of the page to delete the query.  Note there is no delete confirmation or undo.
10. Launch Excel and verify the query is removed.
