Issue/Introduction

The customer is seeing the following error in the Control Panel and $SPECROOT/VNM.OUT file when trying to start the SpectroSERVER after a crash:

ERROR: This application has been started using a Spectrum database

which was not gracefully closed.  The application will now shut down

to allow you to load and initialize a previously-saved good database.

Could not open the database. VNM exiting.

....

SS won't start after hard reboot.

Environment

Release : Any

Component : DX NetOps Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER

Cause

The SpectroSERVER database is corrupt. A reload of a previously good database save is required to start the server.

Resolution

The SpectroSERVER will not start if it detects the database is corrupt. A database restore of a previously saved database is required to get the SpectroSERVER back up and running.
