XCOM Data Transport XCOM Data Transport - Linux PC

Issue/Introduction

Running XCOM for Linux r11.6 16061 SP00 i.e.

xcomd -r

Output: xcomd: CA XCOM Data Transport r11.6 16061 SP00 64bit (for <no SNA support>)

Trying to upgrade to 11.6 SP01 but the installer does not give "Upgrade Choice" option as documented here (see video):CA XCOM DATA TRANSPORT FOR UNIX/LINUX 11.6.1 > Upgrade from Release 11.6

Instead the installer shows the following messages:

Environment

Release : 11.6

Component : CA XCOM Data Transport for Linux PC

Cause

In file "/var/.com.zerog.registry.xml" all the lines referring to the original XCOM 11.6 SP00 (version 13081) installation i.e. product "CA XCOM Data Transport" for version="11.6.1308.1" had gone. Only the lines relating to the patch i.e. product "CA XCOM Data Transport Maintenance" version="11.6.1604.0" and version="11.6.1606.1" remained and there was also a line for "InstallAnywhere Uninstall Component" in the file. Therefore it appears the original XCOM r11.6 SP00 version 13081 had been uninstalled.

Resolution

Instead of the upgrade a fresh install of XCOM r11 SP01 using these steps is required:

1. Take a backup of the registry file "/var/.com.zerog.registry.xml".

2. If "/var/.com.zerog.registry.xml"contains only XCOM entries the file can be deleted. However if "/var/.com.zerog.registry.xml" contains entries for other products installed using InstallAnywhere then only the XCOM entries should be deleted from it.

3. Take a backup of your current XCOM installation directory ($XCOM_HOME) and then delete that directory.

4. Install r11.6 SP01 as a fresh installation.

If any configuration changes were implemented in the previous XCOM installation e.g. xcom.glb parameters, exit points or ssl certificates etc., they will need to be manually applied to the corresponding files in the new r11.6 SP01 installation.
