Issue/Introduction

FRC013 abend in VM:Backup while running a backup.

Cause

Insufficient virtual storage.

Resolution

An FRC013 abend is often the result of insufficient virtual storage defined for the VM:Backup service virtual machine.

 

The console showed:

 

VMBACKUP 00 VMBABN0460I The following domains were being processed by job WEEK: 

VMBACKUP 00 VMBABN0461I VMAPSFS:LUIGI by the PCB at 1FC68348. 

VMBACKUP 00 VMBEND0003I VM:Backup ended: 26Mar19 22:29:07.  VMBACKUP 00 VMBEND0075I Maximum virtual storage used since VM:Backup was started was 205M out of 496M bytes.

 

I'm noting virtual storage used since VM:Backup was started was 205M out of 496M bytes.  

The customer had 512M defined for VM:Backup and suggested increasing to a minimum of 1024M since that's the recommended size.
