Issue/Introduction

How can I set classifiers ( while doing data profiling) to column level?
Want to profile based on column names in my tables

a) how to create the list of classifiers based on the column name.
b) how to create the list of classifiers based on the column values.

Environment

All supported TDM releases.

Cause

N/A

Resolution

For creating a custom classifier, it would be easier to make a copy of the existing classifiers delivered with the TDM Portal located
C:\ProgramData\CA\CA Test Data Manager Portal\classifiers and them as a template to define.

Rename the classifier with a .zip extension.
Extracted the zip file to a folder.
Now able to see the contents of each classifier, since this data is not view-able from the TDM Portal.
Use notepad++ to view each file, it will be much easier to make changes to fit your requirements.
If you do not want to also mask data, you can remove that section, for example, from notepad++, highlight the line that has "maskFunctionGroup":[, the starting [ bracket will show red and the ending ] bracket will also show red.

You can delete from a line that has the starting [ to the end ].

Once you have all of your classifiers defined, you can zip the folders and import that zip file to the TDM Portal from Configuration --> Classifiers.
If you try to import duplicate classifiers, a warning message to overwrite the existing classifiers appears.

Click Yes to overwrite the duplicate Classifiers or click No to ignore the duplicate Classifiers.
If you do not want to override existing classifiers, you can give unique names to your folders and files.
If using a Seedlist Classifier. Make sure each classifier is categorized in its own folder(s), so you will know what types of classifiers you are creating.

All classifiers must be in a folder.
Follow the steps defined in the documentation link:

Refer to documentation section "How to create a RegEx or SeedList Classifier" in the version of TDM you are running.

Additional Information

If you are scanning for a column name, then you don't need a seedlist, you just scan for the column name.

The seedlist is used when you are looking or searching for data values.
