Issue/Introduction

The Spectrum Archive Manage will not start. The following is seen in the $SPECROOT/SS/DDM/ARCHMGR.OUT file:

Jul 11 15:03:54 : ArchMgr started as user 'spectrum'

Jul 11 15:03:54 : ArchMgr validating database.

Error opening the DDM database. The most likely causes:

 1. The SQL database server is not running.

 2. The username, password, hostname, or database name are not correct.

 3. localhost is not configured properly.

Release : Any version of Spectrum

Component : Spectrum Core / Archive Manager

Resolution

As the message states:

 1. The SQL database server is not running - Ensure the Spectrum mysql process/service is running

 2. The username, password, hostname, or database name are not correct - Verify the information for username, password, hostname and database name are correct in the $SPECROOT/SS/DDM/.configrc file

 3. localhost is not configured properly - Verify the localhost configuration in the /etc/hosts file is correct
