Issue/Introduction

We received a TSS dump:

TSS CPF - #CCI SEND TIMEOUT SVC DUMP

This happened in the middle of IPL'ing the 2 systems involved. If this is a timing issue, why is an SVC dump happening ?

Component : CA Top Secret for z/OS

Resolution

The dump received is an intentional dump taken by CPF in order to diagnose communications issues. In this case, CPF node xxxxx timed out on a send request. 

Prior to the next IPling the CPFNODE can be deactivated so communication will stop but Top Secret will still queue any commands into the CPF recovery file. Once the lpar is back up, the commands can be processed. The command to deactivate the node is::

TSS MODIFY(CPFNODE(xxxxx=STOP))
