The client has multiple CA View/Deliver environments to upgrade. From level 11.0 they can upgrade to level 11.6. From level 11.6 they can upgrade to currently-supported level 12.2.
Release : 12.0
Component : CA View
For their environments, the client has the following:
. View 11.0 / Deliver 11.0
. View 11.6 / Deliver 11.6
. View 12.0 / Deliver 12.0
When upgrading View/Deliver, the following is done, as would be used with most mainframe products:
. Install the product
. Update procs
. Update JCL, including anything referencing the load library
To back up a View or Deliver database, to a flat file, use:
. SARDBASE UNLOAD
. RMODBASE UNLOAD
The historical upgrade path is to upgrade View first, then Deliver, as Deliver is downward compatible.
Unique to View/Deliver upgrades is the VERSIONing of a database to the new code level.
For View 11.0, the recommendation is to:
. Bring the code level up to 11.6.
. Run SARDBASE VERSION 11.6, to bring the database to the 11.6 level.

. Bring the code level up to 12.2.
. Run SARDBASE VERSION 12.2, to bring the database to the 12.2 level.
