Issue/Introduction

After inputting EKG key started getting alerts that they are using components WU WV WW

These products are not licensed under the contracts before or post receiving EKG key.

Would like to determine why they started getting message as these products should not be in use.

Cause

  • An EKG code is neither product or CPU dependent
  • An EKG code essentially opens the doors and bypasses license checks
  • An EKG code is valid for 10 days and warns on 1 day prior to expiration
  • Some CA products issue a form of license check that controls availability to individual features/components, and when an EKG code is activated all of the features/components become available
  • Depending upon the CA Product, during product initialization all features may become active when an EKG code is active

Resolution

The CAS9183A warning messages can essentially be ignored. When the EKG code expires in 1 day, the messages should stop. Afterwards, using any feature of the product for which an explicit license (LMP) key is not loaded, will result in a violation message (ie. CAS9180E). If warning/violation messages are being generated for features/components not specifically licensed for, a recycle of the product will be necessary to stop the messages.  A fresh restart of the product will prevent all product features from being made available, and only the licensed features will be externalized.
