How to resolve an increase in buffers?

Issue/Introduction

Have noticed an increase in buffer utilization. How do we determine what userid is using the buffers and how do we clear the buffers? How critical is this?

Resolution

Buffer usage is only critical when consoles begin to see a delay in response time or message throughput. To alleviate the messages in the buffer you can perform the following tasks:


1) Easiest method with least impact. Issue the K Q command to clear the buffers

2) Recycle RCS started task on the affected system


To determine which userid may be utilizing more buffers than expected you can diagnose by issuing the following command:


RDISPLAY SESSION DETAIL USER=ALL             

                            

This command will detail all the users and it might help you to determine who is

running up the buffers.
