Issue/Introduction

This article provides instructions for performing a clean installation of Identity Manager by removing residual registry entries and hidden files from previous installations.

This process is required when an installer incorrectly detects an existing version, fails to locate installation files or application's are not working correctly after installation (like Identity Manager Provisioining Manager not connecting to Provisioning server after installation).

Environment

Release :  14.x, 15.x

Component : IdentityMinder(Identity Manager)

Resolution

  1. Delete every component of product installed on machine.

  2. Delete the following hidden registry and configuration files:

    Registry Files
On Linux, these are typically in the /var or the installation user's home directory.

    .CA_IAM_FW.registry
    .com.zerog.registry.xml

On Windows, they are located in several default paths:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Zero G Registry (Hidden folder)
    C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\Identity Manager\IAM Suite\Identity Manager\install_config_info\iam-suite-uninstall
    C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\Identity Manager\install_config_info\im-uninstall

  3. Registry Keys

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Always test queries or command updates first in a non-production environment. Take a backup before implementing in production. This operation cannot be undone.

Delete the following keys if they persist after uninstallation:

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\ComputerAssociates\Identity Manager
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\ComputerAssociates\Identity Manager\Provisioning Manager

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Netegrity\SiteMinder\CurrentVersion\ImsInstalled (Remove the ImsInstalled entry only, more details here)

  4. Restart the machine.
