Issue/Introduction

We need to know what OPS/MVS releases are compatible with EOS z/OS releases.

Also, because prod will be going from 11.6 to 13 what compatibility considerations are there?

Environment

OPS/MVS Release :   11.9  12.0  12.1  12.2  12.3  13.0 13.5 14.0

Component : OPS/MVS

Cause

Customer is running currently unsupported releases of OPS/MVS and z/OS, amongst other products.

Resolution

In formulating the upgrade plan, the customer will need to consider z/OS compatibility levels, as noted below:

z/OS  Release         Compatible OPS/MVS releases

2.2                       12.2 - 14.0

2.1                       11.8 - 12.3

1.13                     11.7 - 12.3

1.12                     11.7 - 12.3

1.11                      11.6 - 12.0

Compatibility for currently supported releases of OPS/MVS may be found on the z/OS compatibility chart available on the Support Portal.

Be advised that most of these releases require specific fixes for compatibility; however, if you apply ALL maintenance for a particular release then you will have the appropriate compatibility fix(es).

Of consideration, if you plan to upgrade in multiple steps to eventually a current release, you will need to ensure compatibility at whatever release the first step in the upgrade path is to.   Additionally, it is recommended to review the various release notes for all releases that were GA in between your current release to the one that is being upgraded to.

The 12.0 Release Notes covers migration from r11.8 on up to r12.0:

The 12.1 Release Notes covers migration from  r12.0 to r12.1:

The 12.2 Release Notes covers migration from r12:1 to r12.2,

The r13.0 Release Notes, which covers migration from r12.2 and from r12.3, along with the r13.5 Release Notes may also be found on the current Broadcom OPS/MVS Event Management and Automation Techdocs site.  Note that these manuals can only be selected by downloading the files from the current site, as shown below.
