Issue/Introduction

As documented, the BND7074I occurs when a DSF record is flagged as active. Another collector may be using the DSF record. Or, it may have been flagged as active during a previous job abend. If you received the message often for the SAME DSF record, see if a collector failed/abended while it was using this record. Typically, the next time you start or stop a collector, the flag will be reset.

Environment

Release: 5.0

Component: Bundl & LSERV

System configuration for a specific customer environment that encountered this situation:

We are configured with a HOST and a REMOTE LSERV running on 2 different LPARS that share the same set of Bundl VSAM files. We run 3 collectors on EACH of these 2 LPARS, for a total of 6 collectors.

Cause

PDF & DSF record flags in CA Bundl's BSF file are not being reset properly.

Resolution

Should there be a RE-OCCURRENCE of these same problems symptoms after recycling & restarting the CA Bundl collectors, try performing the following processes... - If for some reason the flag does not get reset when a collector is restarted, and you are SURE that there are no other ACTIVE collector tasks on any LPAR that is using the DSF record in question, then logon to Bundl and select option 6.1 (from main admin menu). Locate the DSF record, tab down next to it and type E to edit the record. Change the STATUS from 'A' to 'D' on the resulting screen and hit enter. * If you are also seeing "BND7075I Page file n dsfid dsname is ACTIVE" messages, or if you receive a "DSF IS ACTIVE" message attempting to edit the record as outlined above and and you are SURE there are no other ACTIVE collector tasks on any LPAR that is using the PDF file in question, you should also try running the following series of jobs before restarting the collector: - CC50J026 (PGM=DPMB026) - With PARM=C,C - to CLOSE the PDF files and mark them as done (and simulate normal shutdown of the collectors). - CC50J026 (PGM=DPMB026) - With PARM=D,C - to OPEN the PDF files to make them available again. - CC50J030 (PGM=DPMB030) - No PARM required - to clear the BSF file of all active collector names. - Logon to Bundl again and access the 6.1 screen. Either CONFIRM the status on the problem DSF record is 'D' and if not, try manually editing it again and changing it from 'A' to 'D'
