VM:Backup High-Speed Disaster Recovery Option (HiDRO)

Issue/Introduction

I don't want a tape for each domain being backed up.  How to stack backups?

Environment

Release : 2.8

Component : CA VM:Backup for z/VM

Resolution

The FSN * is what tells HiDRO to stack the tape until it fills up.     Update the CMDCTL for the job and specify FSN *.

Update the CMDCTL file for the job and specify FSN *.

To do this, logon to HiDRO where the job control files are located.

PF3 QUIT to CMS to get to the menu

PF5  Define and Change Backups

Select the job you want to work with (CMDCTL file)

Change the command so that it has FSN *

Like this:

 B U <UNIT> USER (<USERID> RR <PASSWD>) TO TAPE ( OTAPE FSN * PACK

Again, the FSN * is what tells Hidro to stack the tape until it fills up.

Now PF4 to generate the job.
