Issue/Introduction

WebSphere virtualization using DevTest agents.

Environment

All supported DevTest releases.

Cause

N/A

Resolution

1. The steps to install the Agent, refer to section "Install the Pure Java Agent" in the documentation of the DevTest release you are running.

As mentioned in the document, you can download the Java Agent files from your DevTest Portal or get from DevTest installation under $LISA_HOME/agent folder.

2. You can configure WebSphere to use the Java agent using one of the three options, refer to section "Configure WebSphere to Use the Java Agent" in the documentation of the DevTest release you are running.

The agent needs to connect to the Broker Service.

The Broker service should be running in the same server where the Registry service is running. It responds on port 2009 - if not modified.

3. Once you are able to configure the agent in WebSphere and restart the application, you should be able to see the new Agent in the Portal under Settings, Agents.

If there are no issues you will see a green flag on the agent you just started. Here are more information regarding the agent status:

Refer to section "Agent Status Indicator" in the documentation of the DevTest release you are running.

4. When the agent is connected with no issues, you will be able to change the capture level in the Portal for this specific agent and the type of data you can want to capture.

Example: change the Java to full data to capture Java transactions. More information on capture level below:

Refer to section "Configure Capture Levels for Agents" in the documentation of the DevTest release you are running.

5. After capturing the transactions, you will be able to see them in the Portal under Application Insight, Analyze Transactions.

You will need to select which transactions you want to create the virtual service. For more details, refer to section "Shelve Transactions" in the documentation of the DevTest release you are running.
