With the announcement of incorporating more open source products into our existing product stack, there are some questions around how this affects BSI. This article discusses the impact to the product and the actions that will be needed in the future.
Release : 8.35
Component : CA Business Service Insight
CA Technologies, a Broadcom Company, is continually working to improve our software and services to best meet the needs of our customers. As part of this, we will be migrating to support open-source implementations of Java ® and will discontinue product updates related to Oracle ® Java, beginning August 19, 2019. This will allow our Development Team to focus on adding value to future product releases.
We are pleased to inform you that we are replacing Oracle JDK 8 with AdoptOpenJDK 8 in our next release 8.3.6 of CA Business Service Insight which is expected to be released by end of Calendar Year 2019. AdoptOpenJDK uses infrastructure, build and test scripts to produce prebuilt binaries from OpenJDK ® class libraries and a choice of either the OpenJDK HotSpot or Eclipse ® OpenJ9 VM. All AdoptOpenJDK binaries and scripts are open source licensed and available for free. (source: https://adoptopenjdk.net/)
For 8.3.5 and earlier, there will be no further updates for Oracle Java 8 after August 19, 2019. You can continue to use the product version by the terms established under product support and license agreement. We are replacing Oracle Java 8 with AdoptOpenJDK 8 in our next release 8.3.6, ETA end of CY 2019. Once released it is recommended to upgrade to CA Business Service Insight 8.3.6 to receive Java updates.
