Issue/Introduction

CAY6072E UNIT NAME NOT SUPPLIED during validation of IDCAMS DEFINE statement when there is no reason to code UNIT parameter.

Cause

Possible causes are:  

1. JCLCheck runtime option NORUNTIME is used.  NORUNTIME means that JCLCheck does not call SMS, or ACS rules, or look up the catalog for data set existence.  Therefore the UNIT name cannot be determined.

2. SMS routines  may assign defaults based on the qualifiers, but JCLCheck does not run on the same LPAR where these SMS rules are defined.  

Resolution

1. If NORUNTIME option is used, error message CAY6072E may be reduced to an informational or warning message using the MCOSYS option.  

2. If there are defined SMS rules, run JCLCheck on the system where these rules are defined.
