Issue/Introduction

When I try to upgrade UIM 8.5.1 to UIM 9.0.2 the Windows 2016 Server reboots without notification.

Environment

Product Release: 8.51 & 9.0.2

Component: UIM - HUB

Cause

In the VS2017 package version 1.00, there is no "norestart" option specified in the Post Install command.

So the Post Install might trigger OS reboot as part of the package installation.

Resolution

Before launching the installer for the upgrade please follow the below Steps:

1. Download the following packages (Available in http://support.nimsoft.com) and import them into the local Primary Hub Archive.

(*) Mandatory for all UIM users.

vs2017_vcredist_x86 version 1.01
vs2017_vcredist_x64 version 1.01

2.  Remove the following packages from the uimserverpackages.zip used for the upgrade:

vs2017_vcredist_x86 version 1.00
vs2017_vcredist_x64 version 1.00

3. Place the new vs2017_vcredist_x86 version 1.01 and vs2017_vcredist_x64 version 1.01 packages into the uimserverpackages.zip.

4. Deploy the vs2017_vcredist_x86 version 1.01 and vs2017_vcredist_x64 version 1.01 packages to the Primary Hub Server.

5. Perform a reboot of the Primary Hub Server O/S and allow the UIM services / processes to complete the start up.

Re-run the installer and reboot will NOT be triggered.
