Issue/Introduction

Applied VM:Backup service (PTFs) and now getting an error trying to deploy.

DMSACP112S C(120) device error

Could not access 0120 C

Ready(00100);

Environment

Release : 3.6

Component : CA VM:Backup for z/VM

Cause

VMBACKUP server minidisks had not been CMS FORMATTED.

Resolution

The “0120” address is what VMDEPLOY uses for a virtual address to LINK to the TARGET minidisks specified in the

VMSERVER NAMES file entry for that server’s environment, so it can copy/erase the needed files.

For example, VMBACKUP PRIMARY (VMBACKUP 192, VMBACKUP 191, VMBACKUP 1C0, etc.) or VMBACKUP ALTERNATE (VMBACKUP 292, etc).

VMBACKUP server minidisks must be CMS FORMATTED.

Additional Information

FORMAT the minidisks before issuing VMDEPLOY.
