Issue/Introduction

SI05181 documents that a problem with S878 after IBM APARs OA53954/OA55315/OA53955 are applied for z/OS 2.1, 2.2, or 2.3 and also applied the CA Top Secret compatibility solutions SO04024/SO04627.

S878 abends are still occurring even though SO04024 and SO04627 is not applied.

Resolution

The S878 abend can with just IBM APARs OA53954/OA55315/OA53955 applied and SO04024/SO04627 not applied.

SO05230, SO05724 and SO06140 fixes a problem with Top Secret orphaning storage which eventually causes storage in subpool 229 to be used up. This causes S878 and other short on storage conditions to occur. These fixes are hyper fixes so it is highly recommended that they be applied.
