Issue/Introduction

Automatically icmp / ping devices created from Spectrumgtw and alarm

Use Case:

Spectrum has pingable models that get imported into UIM - UMP as devices from the Spectrumgtw integration.

How can UIM automatically monitor the availability of these devices (e.g. icmp response or ping)?

These devices will not have a UIM robot.

Environment

UIM 9.x

spectrumgtw 8.67

 

Resolution

This is not possible, unless those devices are robots.

If they are robots in UIM, then MCS can be used to apply monitoring.

Otherwise, manual effort would be required to setup the net_connect or icmp probe with the new IP addresses.
