Issue/Introduction

I have a Linux box with net-snmp, and am wondering if I can apply a different metric family in order to see individual CPU core metrics rather than a single aggregate.

Environment

Version: All Releases

Cause

By default, servers will discover the UC Davis CPU vendor certification and this vendor certification supports the aggregate CPU.

Resolution

In the GUI go to Administration -> Data Sources -> Data Aggregator -> Monitoring Configuration -> Metric Families and select the CPU metric family. Then on the other panel select Vendor Certification Priorities and click the Manage button. Then move the  "Host Resources CPU" Vendor Certification above the "UC Davis CPU" Vendor Certification.

Then click on the "Update Metric Families" button for it to take effect.

Additional Information

Riverbed firewalls and Bluecat (Linux) appliances are examples of where this has allowed discovery of the individual CPUs
