Error installing CA Test Data Manager Portal: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.

Issue/Introduction

The TDM Portal was originally installed on C: drive, but as per security, the software must be installed on D drive.
The software was uninstalled and reinstalled on drive D with the exception of the Portal.  

Getting an error message when installing CA Test Data Manager Portal in our Development server.

Trying to perform portal installation in the D: drive of the server after uninstalling the previous instance of the Portal which was installed in the C drive.
Please let me know if additional details are needed on the steps we took for the installation.

 

Environment

All supported TDM releases.

Cause

N/A

Resolution

Run the Portal installer as Administrator.

Go through the install again of the Portal and get this dialog error:

CA Test Data Manager Portal service already exists.

Please delete the existing service in order to proceed

with the installation.

Deleted the service manually with this command run as Administrator:

sc delete CATestDataManagerPortal

Service was deleted.

Canceled install and run install again the Portal and get this new dialog error:

 

OrientDB service already exists. Please delete the existing service in order to proceed with the installation.

Deleted the service manually with this command run as Administrator:

sc delete OrientDB

Service was deleted.

Canceled install and run install again the Portal and was able to install with no errors. 

The install had already created services CATestDataManagerPortal and OrientDB, so even calling the install did not rollback and remove the newly created services.

Once the two services were deleted, was able to then install the TDM Portal with no issues and bring it up.
