Database Analyzer for DB2 for z/OS

Issue/Introduction

A SQL-420 error can occur during Action processing when executing a Database Analyzer for Db2 for z/OS (PDA) Extract Procedure.

 

DSNT408I SQLCODE = -420, ERROR: THE VALUE OF A STRING ARGUMENT WAS NOT
         ACCEPTABLE TO THE DECFLOAT FUNCTION                           

 

The failing SELECT statement is displayed immediately after the error message. The SELECT statement is a valid statement.

Cause

IBM APAR PH10882: SQLCODE420 OCCURRED WHEN A QUERY HAS A PREDICATE COMPARING A DOUBLE COLUMN WITH A DECIMAL VALUE

Environment

Db2 version 11 or 12.

Resolution

This is a DB2 problem as reported in IBM APAR PH10882. Please refer to this APAR for further details and appropriate fixes for Db2 11 and Db2 12.
