Issue/Introduction

CA Common Services Release 14.1 PTF SO08066 was activated as described, using LLA REFRESH and SETPROG LPA,ADD,MODNAME=CASHCLPA,DSNAME=LNKLST,FIXED but DMSAR=INSTALL or any CA DISK Batch job is still getting:

CAHC101I Function: INITIALIZE Return Code: x'00000008' Reason Code: x'00000008'
in the Joblog (JESMSGLG) and

4538 INITIALIZATION OF HEALTH CHECKS FAILED: MODULE ADSHR001 FAILED WITH  RC= 4 RS= 8
in MSGPRINT DD

Environment

Release : 12.5

Component : CA Disk Backup and Restore

Cause

CA Common Services Release 14.1 PTF SO08066 solves a problem with termination of "queued" health check initialize requests, which are created when the CAHCHECK address space is not running.
The problem was that there was already a "queued" entry for which a terminate was attempted without the fix applied.
Activating the fix as described using LLA REFRESH and SETPROG LPA,ADD,MODNAME=CASHCLPA,DSNAME=LNKLST,FIXED does not
fix this "bad" entry and thus subsequent DMSAR=INSTALL or Batch jobs are still getting Messages CAHC101I in and CA DISK message 4538.

Resolution

 In order to remove this "bad" entry and to get rid of the messages perform the following steps:

  • F CAMASTER,START COMPONENT=CAHCHECK -> to start CAHCHECK
  • S DMSAR,DMSAR=REMOVE -> to terminate while CAHCHECK is running
  • P CAHC -> stop CAHCHECK again
  • S DMSAR,DMSAR=INSTALL -> no more CAHC101I messages

Any subsequent DMSAR=REMOVE, DMSAR=INSTALL will then work correctly without CAHCHECK running and CAHC101I is no longer issued.
