Issue/Introduction

We have configured a monitor which is defined to alert after 5 consecutive errors

However, it sent an alert after only two consecutive confirmed errors.

What can be the cause for this ?

Cause

Although the monitor was configured to alert after 5 consecutive errors, the monitor had a contact group as alert contact for the monitor.

When checking the alert group, the contacts were configured to be alerted after only two consecutive errors

Resolution

Verify that the threshold settings in the alert contact group are not different to that configured in the monitor. The alert contact settings will override what is configured in the monitor


Otherwise, in the monitor, choose the "Warn Me" setting as "Defined in selected group" so the alert settings are configured in the alert group only.

Additional Information

In ASM 10.2 the behaviour will change so that, where a contact group is configured as alert contact, the "Warn Me" settings will not be available and alert configuration will only be possible in the contact group settings
