Issue/Introduction

After configuring to age out alarms in the "Alarm Management" subview of the VNM model in Spectrum OneClick, alarms are not aging out and automatically cleared as expected.

Environment

Release : Any version of Spectrum

Component : Alarms

Resolution

Check the following:

1. Check if the alarm is configured to be non-user clearable. You cannot age out non-user clearable alarms. The system functionality that generates such alarms, clears them. Maintenance Mode, Device Has Stopped Responding, and Management Agent Lost are the non-user clearable alarms.

2. Check the value of the "Age Out Residual Alarms Only" parameter. If set to yes, only stale alarms will be cleared.

3. Check the value of the "Age Out Alarm Cause IDs Usage" parameter.

    a. If set to "Age Out Only Alarms in Cause ID List", only the alarms associated with the Probable Cause IDs listed in the "Age Out Alarm Cause IDs" parameter will be aged out.

    b. If set to "Do Not Age Out Alarms in Cause ID List" the alarms associated with the Probable Cause IDs listed in the "Age Out Alarm Cause IDs" parameter will NOT be aged out.

4. If using the "Age Out Alarm Cause IDs" parameter ensure the entries are correct.
