Issue/Introduction

client has tried to insert in /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf to shows content of file

Customer is using SNMP to monitor the Virtual Appliance services.

When looking for the JCS service we're getting the message truncated with another service:

.1.3.6.1.4.1.8072.1.3.2.4.1.2.4.###.###.###.# = STRING: 2019 Jun 06 15:12:29 ###.###.###.### im_jcs [OK] idm-userstore-router-caim-srv-04 started

See that the message starts with im_jcs but then it say "[OK] idm-userstore-router-caim-srv-04 started".

The desired output should be something like the other services:

.1.3.6.1.4.1.8072.1.3.2.4.1.2.4.###.###.###.# = STRING: 2019 Jun 06 15:12:29 ###.###.###.### wildfly-idm [ERROR] WildFly (IDM) is not running

So, for im_jcs I believe it should be like:

.1.3.6.1.4.1.8072.1.3.2.4.1.2.4.###.###.###.# = STRING: 2019 Jun 06 15:12:29 ###.###.###.### im_jcs [ERROR] jcs is stopped

Resolution

inside of /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf file test using this line extend test /bin/grep "ERROR" /etc/issue after the change you you need restart services of snmptrapd and snmpd to start to work. after this issue the command snmpwalk -v2c -On -c public 192.168.106.104 nsExtendOutput2Entry to check the results. This should show only the services that are down as shows in /etc/issue file.
