Based on a previous case, I have a list of possble OLD probes that should be removed from our UIM. I want to verify this list before removing, since some of the previous case notes were not very clear. Please verify all probes on this list, and let me know if I can remove them in UIM 9.02?
Release: UIM v9.0.2
Component : UNIFIED INFRASTRUCTURE MGMT
Further clarification is listed below as to the question of what probes can be deactivated, then deleted after an upgrade to UIM 9.0.2.
- Primary Hub:
1 - ace
Yes, deprecated - The ace probe is no longer used as of 8.5.1 and higher.
Action: Deactivate it, delete it, then remove the ace probe directory.
2 - baseline_engine and prediction_engine
As long as its not being used for any baselining/prediction for 'monitoring probes' on the Primary (and normally you do not deploy monitoring/remote monitoring probes on the Primary). You normally deploy monitoring probes/remote monitoring probes on Secondary/Remote hubs. So these probes normally should not be deployed on the Primary.
Action: Deactivate them, delete them, then remove the baseline and prediction probe directories.
3 - dap
The dap probe was normally deployed on the UMP Robot, but regardless of whether nor not it was deployed on the Primary, it is deprecated and can be deactivated and deleted.
Action: Deactivate it, delete it, then remove the dap probe directory.
4 - fault_correlation_engine (yes, if you're not using fault correlation/topology)
5 - relationship_services (yes, if you're not using fault correlation/topology)
6 - topology_agent (yes, if you're not using fault correlation/topology)
Action: Deactivate them, delete them, then remove the probe directories.
7 - healthinfo (yes, deprecated)
Action: Deactivate it, delete it, then remove the healthinfo probe directory.
- Remote Hubs:
1 - baseline_engine and prediction_engine
Action: when you're ready to enable some baselining (static/dynamic) and thresholding or prediction, you may deploy these probes to any remote hub.
