Issue/Introduction

After upgrading Spectrum, custom entries in the Rtr.txt file are missing

Environment

Release : Any version of Spectrum

Component : Spectrum Core / SpectroSERVER

Cause

The $SPECROOT/SS/CsVendor/Cisco_Router/Rtr.txt, $SPECROOT/SS/CsVendor/Ctron_CAT/Switch.txt and $SPECROOT/SS/CsVendor/CiscoPIX/Pix.txt files are used for Cisco syslog trap mappings in Spectrum.

Customizing these files is supported. However, there is a risk these files can be overwritten during an upgrade or patch installation.

Resolution

Prior to upgrading Spectrum, copies of these files should be kept in a safe area and then after the installation is complete, edit the files and add the customizations. Do not copy the old over the new because there may be new out of the box additions to these files.

If migrating from one system to another, edit the files on the new system and add the customizations.

Additional Information

This will be resolved in a future release of Spectrum.
