Issue/Introduction

we upgraded the OS in our SOI box to Windows 2012 R2 Standard. After the upgrade SOI Application, SOI UI, SOI Store Indexer and SOI UCF broker service wouldn't start. They immediately fails after starting.

Environment

Release: SSADSC99000-4.2-Service Operations Insight-Data Source Capacity
Component:

Cause

The path to the executable in service property had space. The path had missing double quote that was supposed to be surrounding the path when there are space in it. The wrapper.log in jsw\bin\log showed an error on FILE
"The argument 'Files' is not a valid property name-value pair."

Resolution

- Found the path to the SOI application, SOI UI, Store indexer and UCF broker service executable had missing double quote.
Here is how the path to the service executable showed in client's SOI environment
  C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SOI\jsw\bin\soi-manager.exe -s C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SOI\jsw\conf\soi-manager.conf

As you can see there are spaces in the path and resolve the problem the path needed to surrounded by double quote as you see here
  "C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SOI\jsw\bin\soi-manager.exe" -s "C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SOI\jsw\conf\soi-manager.conf"
- You can edit the path to the service executable from windows registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Services, select each of the SOI services with missing double quote on their path, double click the     "ImagePath" key and add the double quote as you see above.

Note:
The drive letter can be different for your SOI installation and should be replaced with the correct one. You'll find the path to the service executable by right clicking the service and selecting the properties. If       you install SOI fresh on windows 2012 or 2016 you won't find any spaces in the path.
