Issue/Introduction

The standard logging settings on an Outlook Endpoint will show you policies being loaded but no information on the events being processed by the local policy engine.  Increasing the logging settings will expose this verbose output.

 

How to increase on Data Protection (DataMinder) Endpoint to logging for verbose output.

Environment

CA Data Protection 14.x\ 15.x

Resolution

Run the windows registry editor "regedit.exe" 

Navigate to the following hive keys and increase the values (not all keys will exist depending upon your deployment configuration ie 32 or 64bit) 

HKLM\SOFTWARE\CompiyterAssociates\CA DataMinder\CurrentVersion\UserProcess 

Set Log Level to 4 

HKLM\SOFTWARE\CompiyterAssociates\CA DataMinder\CurrentVersion\Logging 

Set EventLogLevel to 4 

HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\CompiyterAssociates\CA DataMinder\CurrentVersion\UserProcess 

Set LogLevel to 4 

HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\CompiyterAssociates\CA DataMinder\CurrentVersion\Logging 

Set EventLogLevel to 4 

Restart the CA Data Protection (DataMinder) Infrastructure Service. 

The output will appear in the activity logs in the %wgndatadir%\logs folder.
