Plan Analyzer for DB2 for z/OS

Issue/Introduction

Plan Analyzer for Db2 for z/OS (PPA) was upgraded from old release such as r15.
The new panel "PPA Defined Explain Profile Selection" appeared for the Quick Explain process.

In the old release such as r15, the "PPA Quick Explain - Explain Options" panel is displayed soon from
the "PPA Quick Explain Data Editor" panel.  However, in the current release such as r19, the
"PPA CA-Defined Explain Profile Selection" panel is added as the next panel for the
"PPA Quick Explain Data Editor" panel.

Can the the "PPA CA-Defined Explain Profile Selection" panel be skipped?

Resolution

The 'PPA CA-Defined Explain Profile Selection' panel is displayed in the following conditions:
- 'Suppress Expl Prof Select panel ===> N' in PPA Profile Variables panel is specified.
- 'Profile ===> ' in PPA Quick Explain Data Editor panel is blank.

To run the same way as Release 15.0, please do the following:
(To skip the the "PPA CA-Defined Explain Profile Selection" panel.)
- In 'EP Explain Profile Maintenance' option review the values for @CURRDBA profile are the right ones.
- In PPA Quick Explain Data Editor panel specify 'Profile ===> @CURRDBA', then the PPA Quick Explain - Explain Options panel
fields will be filled with the values in @CURRDBA Profile.
If the SAVE command is issued in this panel, the values will be saved in the ISPF profile. Then, the following message appears.
PP095I: Your current Explain Options have been saved in your ISPF profile.

Then, please specify 'Suppress Expl Prof Select panel ===> N' in PPA Profile Variables panel and with blank
'Profile ===> ' in PPA Quick Explain Data Editor panel.  (The "PPA CA-Defined Explain Profile Selection" panel can be skipped.)
When the "PPA Quick Explain - Explain Options" panel is gotten, necessary fields will be filled with values from the ISPF profile as in Release 15.0.

However the recommended action is to work with a value in 'Profile ===>' field, on this way you will be more dynamic to work
with several profiles and not only with the values saved in the ISFP profile.
