Issue/Introduction

UNC conventions are being used to write from the XCOM servers to other windows servers.

Environment

XCOM Data transport r11.6 17090 SP02 64bit for Windows Family
Windows Server 2000
Windows Server 2003
Windows Server 2008
Windows Server 2012
Windows Server 2016

Cause

Windows Server 2000
Windows Server 2003
are no longer supported.

This is a Windows operating system error. It is not an XCOM error. XCOM is only giving you the error message that the operating system has passed to XCOM telling you why you cannot write the file on the share.

Resolution

One possible cause:

the Windows defender service can block UNC connections in later versions of Windows. Please check whether the Windows defender service is running. If it is running, see if you can turn it off for a while and retry the transfers.

If Windows Defender is running you can also stop Windows Security from blocking the program by adding an exclusion and then selecting from files, folders, file types, or process.
