Issue/Introduction

Datacom version 15.1 provides several enhancements including a new DBUTLTY feature named DATASCAN.

One of the DATASCAN options provided is

     DATASCAN OPTION=REBUILD_SPACE_INDEX

This option replaces RETIX KEYNAME=. However, all options that are currently documented continue to be supported. New features are done only with the new FUNCTION and keyword.

Environment

z/OS

Resolution

So, DBUTLTY with:

RETIX KEYNAME=*DATA,DBID=dbid,...

Can now be accomplished with 15.1 enhancement:

DATASCAN OPTION=REBUILD_SPACE_INDEX,DBID=dbid,...

Additional Information

Refer to CA Datacom Core - 15.1 section "DATASCAN OPTION=REBUILD_SPACE_INDEX"
CA Datacom®/DB uses the DATASCAN OPTION=REBUILD_SPACE_INDEX option to track the space available in a data area which is defined with space reclamation (data area space management options other than 0).

Note: To provide compatibility with DBUTLTY processing before this function was added, the exact same actions as documented here are also performed using function RETIX with KEYNAME=*DATA and keywords DBID= and AREA=.
