Why is SamAccountName attribute limited to 20 characters?

Resolution

In older versions of Windows the samAccountName was limited to 20 characters. In newer versions of Windows it can be longer but Microsoft does still mention 20 characters for backward compatibility. The Identity Manager application is hard coded to the 20 characters and this cannot be changed.
