ENF high average frame count and CPU usage

Issue/Introduction

In the course of time after a restart of task ENF, it is more and more average frame count and cpu consumed.

Some LPARs uses after a while up to 10% of its MSU capacity for this task.

Why do I have a high ENF CPU usage?

Environment

CA Common Services R15.0

Cause

Incorrectly set the JOBFAIL event to INACTIVE:

EVENT(JOBFAIL,INACT)

This configuration error prevent ENF from properly processing events thus causing long chains in storage
thus leading to the witnessed consumption on resources.

Resolution

You have to update your ENF parameters to set your event JOBFAIL to ACTIVE:

EVENT(JOBFAIL,ACTIVE)
