CA Content Viewer 14 - Cannot edit ASCII config files

Issue/Introduction

The H2 server started with a valid connection. However, two USS files that are supposed to be ASCII (for customization, if intended) are not in that format..  How do I view and edit them?

Resolution

If you are using ISPF Udlist you can’t use browse on ConfigFile.cfg and log4j2.xml because ISPF tries to display them in EBCDIC instead of ASCII. From ISPF Udlist use VA (view ascii file) to browse the file – that should display the file correctly. And when it comes time to edit the file you will need to use EA (edit ascii file).
