Issue/Introduction
Service Desk Manager/CMDB would need Java env for some of its processes. In previous versions like 12.9/14.1, JRE was installed and lately users see something more in the JRE folder like compiler javac.exe and some may wonder if it is JDK and if yes why.
For SDM/CMDB 17.2, does Broadcom install JRE or JDK when install the application?
Environment
SDM/CMDB 17.2 Windows, Linux, Unix
Resolution
It is JDK. The reason for this is, in this Java release, Oracle does not offer JRE or Server JRE anymore and only JDK version. As a result, vendors would need to use JDK. Please refer to https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/11-relnote-issues-5012449.html for more information.
