At CICS CTS 5.4 shutdown time CICS receives a A03 abend. The svc dump points to the Symdump CICS CTS 5.4 load module IN71COKE.

Issue/Introduction

The client just upgrade their CICS regions to CICS CTS 5.4 from a previous release of CICS. When the client shuts down their CICS 5.4 region they abend with an A03 abend.
The A03 dump points to Smdump CTS 5.4 module as the cause of the problem. The client is executing the Symdump CICS shutdown program IN25ENPL at CICS shutdown time as documented in the installation guide. Not running IN25ENPL at shutdown is known to cause A03 abends at some sites in the past.
The symdump CICS shutdown program IN25ENPL was correctly added to the CICS PLTSD shutdown table before the DFHDELIM as shown below.

DFHPLT TYPE=ENTRY,PROGRAM=DFHDELIM

Cause

The cause of the problem was Security which was preventing the Symdump CICS program IN25ENPL from executing at CICS shutdown time. This problem has been seen at sites running security products CA ACF2 and IBM RACF.

Resolution

Run a security violations report and grant the access needed so the Symdump CICS modules can execute at CICS shutdown time.
