Issue/Introduction

I have a developer that is interested in connecting to Datacom using Visual Studio. Are there any instructions specific to this?

Datacom Server 14.0

Resolution

Follow directions from informational solution RI64249 for Datacom Server:
Title: *INF: DRIVER COULD NOT BE LOADED DUE TO SYSTEM ERROR 14001 

Extract:

-- If Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 or later is not installed in a Windows platform, an ODBC connection may fail with the following message. 

Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 14001. 

User Response: Download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update from the Microsoft Download Center (x86).

Other related symptoms and resolution:

When trying to install Datacom Server Client (V15.0 – SO03997_64BIT) and CAICCI (V14.1.2 64BIT) on a WINDOWS 2008 Server, we receive this error:

The program can't start because VCRUNTIME140.dll is missing from your computer.Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. 

We cross checked against any other PC/Server and find that on the Windows 2008 Server no “microsoft visual c++ 20xx redistributable (64)” is available. 

After installing Microsoft visual studio c++ 2017 redistributable (64 bit) on this Windows 2008 machine the installation now works.
