Issue/Introduction

(Environment) CA SSO 12.8 Policy Server and Admin UI server on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5
(Symptom) CPU usage hit 100% on the host and Admin UI became unresponsive.
The following OutOfMemoryError was recorded in the Admin UI server.log.

2019-04-10 14:27:47,408 ERROR [ims.tmt.persistence] (default task-50) PersistenceProvider: default task-50: updateObject: exception updating objects: java.sql.BatchUpdateException: Java exception: 'Java heap space: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError'.

(Question) Does the following KB work for this case?

Cause

(Answer) No. KB Article Id: 21997 isn't applicable to 64bit versions of SSO (12.6, 12.7, 12.8).

Resolution

The following articles were found about WildFly and Java 8 combination.

It is recommended that standalone.conf and standalone.conf.bat should be updated along with the change in Java 8.

The current options:
JAVA_OPTS="-Xms1024m -Xmx1536m -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true"

The suggested options for Java 8:
JAVA_OPTS="-Xms1024m -Xmx1536m -XX:MaxMetaspaceSize=256M -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true"
