Issue/Introduction

xcomtcp -ping REMOTE_SYSTEM=ipaddr PORT=8044 TRNENCRL_CIPHER=ALL received message #XCOMU0298E Unable to allocate remote transaction program: Txpi 211: Socket connect error return value = 79

Resolution

The cause of the problem was related to the XINETD service on the receiving Linux system. In this case the XINETD needed to be  recycled because XCOM had been reinstalled.

Here are different commands to check the status of XINETD on Linux RHEL 6 or 7:

/etc/init.d/xinetd status   or   systemctl status xinetd

To start/restart XINETD: 

/etc/init.d/xinetd start   or   systemctl start xinetd
/etc/init.d/xinetd restart   or    systemctl restart xinetd
