Issue/Introduction

It appears that for some time after startup, the PMIM facility does not function.

At the bottom of the main menu screen it shows 

No Intervals Have Been Collected Yet

None of the menu functions do anything.

At some point later the main menu shows

Interval Monitor is Online and Collecting Data

and all functions work as expected

What causes this delay?

  

Environment

Release: All supported releases.
Component: Performance Monitor.

Resolution

Until the first Interval has been collected, PMIM has nothing to report on.

Example:

  #PMOPT specifies  INTVSIZ=10 

Interval is 10 minutes.

The interval is based on 10 minute increments of the time of day. It is not based on the time the CV was started.

So if CV comes up at 08:11:36,  PMIM will show that "No Intervals Have Been Collected Yet" until 08:20:00.
At 08:20:00 PMIM will show "Interval Monitor is Online and Collecting Data" and you will have the first interval's stats.

If CV had started at 08:18:12, the delay would be shorter. The first interval will also be available at 08:20:00.
